Salomon Freeski
by Jacob Banfield Throughout the ski season, Salomon Freeski TV produces some of the best skiing edits around. Their mission is to share the stories of incredible skiers from around the world and inspire people to become a part of this world. A noble mission that we fully support. This season has seen Salomon ramp up their product offering in the hike and ride category, the new Guardian binding offers proven freeride performance with an easily accessed hike and ride switch, so you can go out and earn your turns. The binding is mounted lower on the ski and it is wider, which gives maximum lateral power transmission. I've played around with the Guardian and the 3 modes, ski, hike and climb are really easy to get in and out of. It really is an amazing piece of kit.
Salomon's Quest Max 120 boot is like Cinderella's foot to the glass slipper when it comes to the Guardian binding. It is a high performance all mountain, do anything boot. It has a super easy hike mode, with just a flip switch at the back and like the rest of Salomon's new boot range, it features the 360 custom shell for added comfort. The final piece to the puzzle comes in the form of Salomon's new range of Rocker2 skis, offered in a variety of sizes underfoot from 90 to 122. These skis have been unapologetically built for skiers who seek as much powder as possible. The 90's and 108's offer versatility on hard pack yet will still float. The 115's and 122's are for charging the deep stuff and have the full Rocker tips. Salomon is a brand that is pushing the boundaries of skiing. Their team of designer and riders, known as the mountain collective appear truly dedicated to developing innovative, high performance and stylish skiing hardware. Those videos and the shiny new pieces of kit do seduce us into spending money with the dream of skiing powder in the best way possible. And in turn, that money is spent on more content, research and development. Without that cycle, it wouldn't be possible to glimpse those incredible lines on film and to dream of your own. So I for one am happy that we're a part of it. To keep enjoying what the Salomon Mountain Collective does, subscribe to their youtube channel. |
