JUMBO WILD: SweetGrass Productions
It was the incredible image of the Grizzly Bear that grabbed our attention, then we wanted to know why...? Well, Jumbo Wild is the latest project from the team at SweetGrass Productions. They have collaborated with Patagonia to raise awareness for the permanent protection of the Jumbo Valley. An important international wildlife corridor and one of only two areas in North America where grizzly bears can freely roam between Canada and the U.S.
For decades, First Nations, conservationists, backcountry skiers and snowboarders have fought a proposed large-scale ski resort deep in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia. After 24 years of opposition, what more will it take to keep Jumbo wild for good!? This film project aims to increase awareness and help stop development in the Jumbo Valley, to honour the Ktunaxa Nation’s Qat’muk Declaration by creating permanent protection for the region’s cultural and ecological values.
