Stefan Hausl and Björn Heregger have pushed the boundaries of what it means to be freeride skiers. They have taken a whole new approach to freeride access using paragliders and their newest film Lost & Found documents their journey to ski the Augstenberg. After a successful premiere tour of Europe, the film went live online on Monday. We caught with Stefan and asked him about the inspiration behind the film and his plans for the upcoming season.
What was the inspiration for filming Lost and Found? There is this beautiful mountain range opposite the ski area St. Anton am Arlberg. We watched it during the last ten years and it looked incredible this year. It's just hard to get there and the mountain only has light until lunch time. We had to get creative to reach that place ;-) How many people worked with Björn and yourself on the project? It was two camera guys, one editor, four pilots, two sherpas, one photographer, a marketing company, family, lift company, translators, editors and marketing people from our sponsors, .... it adds up! Where did you film Lost and Found? The Mountain is called the Augstenberg (2881m), it is within the Arlberg region (Austria). It looks like a big theatre once you reach the bowl at the foot of the mountain. What was the most challenging aspect of shooting the film? To sleep in the tents, to cook, to dry our ski boots over night and to step into them on the cold mornings! How long have you known Björn? Björn has been my best skiing buddy for 6 years now. We support each other very well and we also push each other if we need it. What was the funniest thing that happened to you guys when filming Lost and Found? The funniest thing was at the end of the movie. But you have to watch the movie until the very end and then you will get the laugh. Cannot tell you more about it! What do you have planned for this season? I will ski the Freeride world tour again. Together with Björn we will go out on some adventures to produce a movie. Really looking forward to that. What skis do you ride? Nordica 193cm Helldorado (113mm waist), Binding mount on classic. |
